How do we work on Scientific Texts?
General considerations
Ideally, we prefer to maintain a direct interaction with the author(s) since we believe that this improves and speeds up the process.
We would generally write to you in English, but we will be happy to communicate in whichever of these other languages you are most comfortable with: Spanish, Catalan, or Italian.
We prefer to work with Microsoft Word, but if you would like to work with other software, please contact us to discuss.
It is possible that we will be unfamiliar with some specialist terms in your article, and we might misinterpret them. To avoid this, please consider sending us a list of terms you think we might be unfamiliar with.
Stages
The review process consists of translation where applicable (from Spanish, Catalan, or Italian), and thorough critical reading. All our editors are experienced scientists, so we focus on helping to efficiently transmit the scientific message through a critical review of the content, the structure, and the flow of ideas. We then perform a thorough language review.
If you need clarifications/another review after having implemented the changes we suggested during the review process, or if you need help to re-shape your paper for another journal/to answer the reviewers, please feel free to get in touch again.
The writing process consist in multi-step iterative method. Please contact us for an initial call and a detailed work plan.
Time-frames
We return revisions of a standard length paper within a maximum of 10 working days of receiving it, but will try to adapt to your needs. Other documents might require less or more time and this will be assessed at the beginning of each project.
Writing projects last around 2 months for papers. The time might vary depending on the type of document, your needs, and our availability. It would be established at the beginning through the agreement of a work plan.
Fees
To ensure fair fees, we charge per hour of editing/writing time: €150 – discount for public institutes = €100.
The review of most papers work out at about 8 hours, based on the experience of around 650 papers in the last 11 years.
Writing projects for papers last either around 30 or 50 hours, respectively in the case that we help you to write using our methodology or we write under your guidance. The number of hours might vary for other types of documents.
